Yamaha YZF-R7: As per the latest report from our sister publication, Mobility Outlook, Yamaha Motor India is likely to introduce its new middleweight motorcycles in our market post-2023. In an interview with Eishin Chihana, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, he said that the Japanese manufacturer can introduce limited numbers of YZF-R7 and MT-07.

“After some years, those (YZF-R3 and MT03) customers will need another step-up bike and we can introduce limited numbers of R7 and MT-07. Between 2023 and 2030, we can prepare this step-up structure for new customers. This will be our key focus where stylish, sporty, and exciting bikes will fuel aspiration,” said Chihana.

Notably, Chihana confirmed that the YZF-R3 and MT-03 will arrive in this fiscal year. The motorcycles mentioned above were recently showcased to dealers in the Indian market. In fact, several dealers have commenced the unofficial bookings for these products.

The Yamaha YZF-R7 will rival the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Honda CBR 650R, while the MT-07 will compete against the Kawasaki Z650 and Triumph Trident 660. Both middleweight models from Yamaha use a 689cc twin-cylinder engine that delivers 73bhp at 8,750rpm and 67Nm at 6,500rpm.
