Citroen C3 Aircross SUV teased ahead of debut: Hyundai Creta, Grand Vitara rival

Citroen is all set to launch its third fourth product in the Indian market in the form of a new SUV that will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, among other similarly priced SUVs. The French carmaker has released a teaser image of the upcoming SUV on its official social media handles, confirming that the debut will take place on April 27.

It should be noted that Citroen already has a C3 Aircross in its line-up, sold in Europe since 2017. The upcoming C3 Aircross could serve as a new-gen model for the existing SUV in its global portfolio. Moreover, the teaser reveals the car’s split LED headlamp setup with integrated DRLs – similar to what we’ve seen on the C3 tallboy hatch.

Other design bits like funky elements on the outside and unique color options will likely also be available on the upcoming SUV. Despite similar styling cues, the C3 Aircross is expected to be much larger than the C3. The cabin is also expected to offer a more premium experience as compared to the company’s hatchback offering.

The C3 Aircross will likely be a petrol-only offering, and could possibly use the C3’s 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that makes 110 PS of maximum power and 190 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual transmission will be offered as standard, but the C3 Aircross is also expected to be offered with an optional automatic gearbox, unlike its hatchback sibling.

A base price of around Rs 9 – 10 lakh (ex-showroom) is what could give the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross an edge over its rivals. Recently spied test mules also suggest that Citroen could even introduce a three-row version of the SUV at a later date, however, the same is yet to be confirmed by the brand.
