Google could be working on a bunch of new phones, including the recently leaked Pixel Fold 2, the Pixel 9 series, and lastly, the most-anticipated Pixel 8a. The latter will arrive as a successor to the Pixel 7a and will be in the mid-range segment. Now, folks at MySmartPrice have spotted a new Pixel phone on the Demko Certification and this reveals the battery capacity. The handset in question could be the Pixel 8a.

  • The UL Demko certification revealed the upcoming Pixel phone will bear the model number GH2MB, as spotted by MySmartPrice.
  • The listing confirms the Pixel 8a will be equipped with a 4,942mAh rated battery. This could be marketed as 5,000mAh.
  • In comparison, the Pixel 7a shipped with a 4,385mAh. This means we are getting a significant jump in the battery capacity.
  • Considering the significant jump in the battery capacity, there are chances the Pixel phone spotted on the UL Demko could be the Pixel 9 Pro or possibly the Pixel Fold 2.
  • Google usually reserves the 5,000mAh unit for the top-end model like the Pixel 8 Pro.

    • The smartphone has been listed with 8GB of RAM, and Android 14.

    The Pixel 8a launch is actually dicey as there have reports suggesting that Google might now shift to a two-year cycle for the A-series. Google Pixel 8a Tipster Yogesh Brar had also said that Google is actually discontinuing the A-series, which would mean that the Pixel 7a was the last from the series. But since there’s no official confirmation yet, and a long way for the Pixel 8a launch, it’s best to wait.
