Royal Enfield Shotgun 650

The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has been under testing for quite some time now, and we expect it to be the next product to be launched in India under the 650cc lineup. Although the official launch is still some time away, here’s everything you need to know about the Shotgun 650.

Based on the SG 650 concept, the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 will feature authentic bobber styling, complete with a low-slung stance and a single-seat setup. However, spy images have revealed that the motorcycle will also get an optional pillion seat to make it more versatile. The Shotgun 650 will feature a round headlamp with a custom nacelle, a round fuel tank and short fenders. It will get centre-set footpegs, which should offer a comfortable riding posture.

The Shotgun 650 will share its mechanicals with Super Meteor 650. So, it will get the same 648cc, parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine that is likely to produce 46.3bhp at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm at 5,650rpm. The motor will be paired to a six-speed gearbox, while a slipper clutch will be standard. We expect the powertrain offers effortless cruising abilities and excellent low and mid-range performance.

Spy pictures have suggested that the motorcycle will sport USD forks up front and twin shocks at the back. We hope the Shotgun 650 offers better ride quality compared to the Super Meteor 650. Meanwhile, braking tasks will be handled by disc brakes at both ends, while dual-channel ABS will be standard.

Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is likely to be positioned alongside Super Meteor 650, so we can expect a similar pricing of around Rs. 3.50 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. When it is launched, it is unlikely to have a direct competitor but will rival the Kawasaki Vulcan S.
