OnePlus 13 prototype testing reveals key design changes for the next flagship

We’re only just getting settled with the new OnePlus flagship but we’re already getting to hear about the next-gen OnePlus 13. The latest leak suggests OnePlus 13 will come with a different design. This will definitely be refreshing as the OnePlus 12 has a very similar design to last year’s OnePlus 11.

·        OnePlus 13 design change

  • OnePlus is reportedly planning to switch to a different design language for the OnePlus 13. This information is based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 prototype products that the brand is currently testing internally. The next-gen flagship, which would be the OnePlus 13, which will come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset later this year.
  • According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the prototype Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 device being tested doesn’t have the stainless steel hinge, and the circular camera module.
  • These are two key design elements for the present OnePlus flagships so the brand might just be going for something very different with the next batch. But with no visual evidence it’s best to wait before jumping into any conclusions.
  • The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will be the next flagship chipset for smartphones. It should launch sometime in October this year, after which we’ll start seeing flagship phones with the Snapdragon chipset.
  • Early benchmark results show the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will hit a maximum clock speed of 4.0GHz. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a peak clock speed of 3.4GHz. It’s still too early but we should start seeing more information about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 soon.

As for the OnePlus 13, we’re expecting to see this debut in December in China. Other than the design and chipset, we should see more upgrades on the OnePlus 13 over its predecessor, the OnePlus 12. Key Specs

  • The upcoming OnePlus phone will have the model number CPH2613, according to our sources.
  • The renders show there will be a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The display is flat while the frame is plastic.
  • There could be an in-display fingerprint sensor, going by the fingerprint animation on the screen. This also means the phone will have an AMOLED screen.
  • The SIM tray section, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and speaker grills are at the bottom.
  • The top section has a secondary microphone and what looks like an IR blaster or a 3.5mm headphone jack.
  • The volume and power buttons are on the right edge. There’s no Alert Slider.
  • The back panel of the phone has a vertical camera module with dual camera sensors and an LED flash.
  • The rear panel is glossy, but it’s unclear whether OnePlus is going with glass or plastic.
  • In addition to the renders the OnePlus CPH2613 has been listed on the Camera FV-5 certification and this reveals the camera details. The handset will house a 50MP primary camera (pixel binned to 12.6MP) with f/1.8 aperture, 4096×3072 picture resolution, 5.6 mm focal length, and OIS+EIS. There will be a 16MP front camera with f/2.4 aperture, EIS, and 2304×1728 picture resolution.
  • The  starts at Rs 39,999 for the base model, which offers 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
  • Meanwhile, the 16GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is priced at Rs 45,999.
  • It is worth noting that the phone’s sale in India will begin on February 6th at 12 pm.
  • There’s a Rs 1,000 bank discount for ICICI credit card and OneCard holders.
