Pixel 8 India launch

Google is gearing up for the Pixel 8 series launch, including the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, and based on the leaked USA pricing, here is how much they could cost in India. Now, we already know about the October 4 launch date and what the phones are going to look like. And if the rumours are to be believed, the Pixel 8 could likely launch at a price of $699, while the Pixel 8 Pro could likely launch at a price of $999, suggesting a $100 increase in prices over the Pixel 7 series launch prices. So, what does that suggest for the Indian pricing of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro?

According to a recent report by 9to5Google, a retail source suggests that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro may launch at $699 and $999, which is roughly Rs 58,000 and Rs 82,900 respectively. Now, this kind of pricing for the Pixel 8 series in India is highly unlikely and here’s why.

Considering that both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are set to receive a $100 price bump, and also considering the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, launch prices in India, which were — Rs 59,999 and Rs 84,999, the Pixel 8 series will most likely see a price increase in India as well. In that case, the standard Pixel 8 could likely cost between Rs 65,000 to Rs 70,000, while the Pixel 8 Pro may cost somewhere between Rs 90,000 to Rs 95,000. Again, this is pure speculation at this point, taking into consideration both the tipped USA prices of the Pixel 8 series and the company’s track record with its recent pricing strategy of its phones in India.

But apart from the Pixel 8 series smartphones, one other device has been officially confirmed to launch in India, the Pixel Watch 2. For the unaware, Google introduced the first generation of its Pixel Watch last year at a starting price of $349. However, the Pixel Watch was never officially launched in India. But, with the company officially confirming that the second-generation Pixel Watch 2 will launch in India, and with the price being tipped to be the same as last year, i.e. $349, which is roughly Rs 29,000, it will be interesting to see how Google prices its latest upcoming smartwatch in our country.
