Royal Enfield Motoverse edition

The unveiling of the new Shotgun 650 was the biggest surprise by Royal Enfield at this year’s Motoverse in Goa. The company showed the Motoverse edition of the bike at the event which will be limited to just 25 units. With a price tag of Rs 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom), this first lot of special edition Shotgun will be sold to 25 lucky attendees of Motoverse. This iteration is essentially a preview of what the simpler and perhaps more affordable production version of the Shotgun 650 will be like.

The Shotgun 650 is based on the SG650 concept that RE had unveiled at the 2021 EICMA show in Milan. What makes the Motoverse edition of the bike special is the custom-designed, hand-painted body panels with gradient-style graphics and neon detailing. Notably, each of the 25 units of the Shotgun 650 Motoverse trim has been customised over months and these will never be produced again. While RE is calling it a neo-retro roadster, the single-seat version looks more like a bobber. However, an optional pillion seat will also be available.

Mechanically, the Shotgun 650 shares its main chassis with the Super Meteor 650 but gets a host of changes such as different wheels and overall geometry. Even the ergonomics offered by the Shotgun are very different from other 650s from RE. As for the engine, it’s visually the same 649cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine as other 650s in RE’s line-up. This unit produces 47bhp and 52Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. We believe the brand has slightly changed the tuning of this motor for the Shotgun to match its persona.

The deliveries of the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Motoverse edition will commence in January 2024 followed by the debut of its production model in Europe and India.
